Mechanically the gun seems to function properly but only low pressure loads should be used and you should have it checked by a competent gun smith. The stocks carry the original finish with added oils. The checkered, round pistol grip wood stocks are very good, with numerous, scratches, nicks & dings and a small surface crack on the upper right side of the forearm. The metal finish on the barrel has toned to brown, with added finish. The receiver has faded to a gun metal grey, with a thin brown patina developing. This is the Hopkins and Allen Falling Block shotgun manufactured from 1884 to 1907 with this example having the Norwich Connecticut address that were produced from 1902 to 1907 in the new factory.
